Yesterday I headed to Dorset on a day trip with my family and it was a day filled with blue skies, ice-cream and beaches. We set off for Dorset early in the morning only to later be confronted by queues of traffic who had also decided that a trip to the beach was a good idea. After a three hour journey (that should have taken an hour and a half), we finally arrived at Lulworth Cove.
Lulworth Cove is beautiful in the sun and the beach was absolutely packed. I don't think I've ever seen it so busy! We began by taking a boat trip around Lulworth Cove, along the Jurassic Coastline, towards Durdle Door. I visit Dorset about 5/6 times a year (and I even lived there for three years), so this boat trip was a great way to see the coastline from a different perspective.

After the boat trip, we decided to get an ice-cream and I had a blackcurrant and clotted cream one, which is my absolute favourite. We then made our way back to the car and drove to Weymouth.
When we arrived at Weymouth, we were greeted with the sun reflecting on the glistening blue sea. We discovered the most beautiful gardens, which I'd never previously visited despite going to Weymouth many times previously.
After the drive to Portland, we found a viewing area with stunning views of Chesil Beach. As the sun began to set, we went to Portland Bill to wander around. Portland Bill is particularly beautiful in the evening sun.
After venturing back to the viewing area we stumbled upon earlier in the day, we sat down on a bench to watch the most amazing sunset (these photos don't do it justice).
It was such a lovely day and we couldn't have asked for better weather. I'm sure I'll have time to visit Dorset a couple more times before heading back to university in September.
